At PlayQuest, we understand that obtaining the needed playarea funding and grants to create your dream playground can be a long, drawn-out process. It can be difficult to know how to start or where to apply for funding.
However we are here to assist you in this matter, with a list of the grants and funding providers currently available – to make this process easier for you.
Within this list will be some information regarding the Grant/Funding Bodies currently available, who can apply for grant, how much can be applied for, and their respective website addresses – so that you can easily navigate through to their websites for further information.
Information – This is part of the Big Lottery Fund grant scheme for local communities. There are different schemes for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Who Can Apply – Schools, Town/Parish Councils, Health Bodies and Non-Profit Groups.
How Much Can Be Applied For – Grants are available up to £10,000 (Wales up to £5,000).
Information – Grants are available for Schools, Charities, and Community Groups in local areas.
Who Can Apply – Schools, Community Groups, and Non-Profit Groups.
How Much Can Be Applied For – Grants are available from £5,000 – £10,000.
Information – Three grant deadlines throughout the year – January 15th, May 15th, and September 15th.
Who Can Apply – Non-Profit Groups, and Registered Charities who work with disadvantaged children and people under 18 years of age.
How Much Can Be Applied For – 2 types of grants are available – small grants up to £10,000 and main grants of over £10,000.
Information – The Aviva Community Fund lends a helping hand to local communities, by offering support and funding for inspirational causes.
Who Can Apply – Community Groups, and Non-Profit Groups.
How Much Can Be Applied For – The average grant awarded is circa £25,000.
Information – UK Community Foundations is the managing agent for Comic Relief’s Stronger Communities theme.
Who Can Apply – Organisations and People who want to invest in their local communities where it is most needed.
How Much Can Be Applied For – The average grant awarded is circa £3,200.
Information – The only independent UK charity working to protect and improve parks, playing fields,
playgrounds, bike trails and woodlands. Over the last 5 years Fields In Trust has accessed over £3m of funding to assist in improving the parks and playing fields that they protect.
Who Can Apply – Any open spaces that are legally protected by Fields in Trust
How Much Can Be Applied For – The grants vary depending on funding availability and funding themes.
Information – Bags of Help is Tesco’s exciting local community grant scheme where the money raised by the sale of carrier bags is being used to fund thousands of local projects in communities right across the UK. Projects that bring benefit to their community will get the green light – these range from improving community buildings and outdoor spaces to buying new equipment, training coaches or volunteers and hosting community events. Administration of the local funding is being managed by the community charity with a green heart, Groundwork, which specialises in transforming communities and the local environment for the better.
Who Can Apply – Voluntary or Community organisations (including registered charities/companies), Schools, Health bodies (e.g. Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), NHS Hospital Trust, Foundation Trust), Parish/Town Councils, Local Authorities and Social Housing Providers.
This list is not exhaustive and there will be many other types of organisations that will be funded.
How Much Can Be Applied For – Between £1,000 – £4,000
Information – The Ernest Cook Trust aims to help children learn about their environment and the countryside.
Who Can Apply – Non-Profit Groups, Schools, and Registered Charities.
How Much Can Be Applied For – 2 Types of grants are available – small grants up to £4,000 and larger grants of over £4,000.
Information – This fund invests in projects that will have a lasting impact and make a difference for people, heritage and communities. They typically have over £300m a year to invest in new projects.
Who Can Apply – Applications that help people to learn about, look after and celebrate heritage in a fun and
How Much Can Be Applied For – Various types of grants available from between £3,000 – £5m.
Information -The Big Society Capital improves the lives of people in the UK by connecting social investment to charities and social enterprises.
They engage with investors, fund managers, charities and social enterprises to make it easier to use social investment. With their co-investors, they have made over £1bn of new capital available to organisations with a social mission, through investments into fund managers and social banks.
Who Can Apply – Charities and Social Enterprises that will have the ability to repay an investmenr through generated income.
How Much Can Be Applied For – Various types of grants available.
Information – They use National Lottery funding to make awards available to help more people play sport.
Who Can Apply – Non-Profit Organisations.
How Much Can Be Applied For – £300 – £10,000
Information – Their main focus of Sport Wales is to increase the number of people taking part in sport and physical activity. The ‘Community Chest’ fund is most applicable.
Who Can Apply – Sports Club or Association, Youth Clubs, and Community Groups.
How Much Can Be Applied For – Grant awards up to £1,500 in any 12 months towards increasing participation, and improving standards.
Information – WREN offer tax credits to help to benefit the lives of people living close to landfill sites.
Who Can Apply – Community Groups, Heritage Groups, and Conservation Groups.
How Much Can Be Applied For – Between £2,000 – £100,000.
Information – The Biffa Award gives grants to community projects near landfill sites. They build communities and transform lives.
Who Can Apply – Community Groups, and Environmental Projects.
How Much Can Be Applied For – 2 Types of grants are available – small grants up to £5,000 and larger grants up to £50,000.
Information – The Santander Foundation plays an important role in Santander UK’s flagship community programme, The Discovery Project.
The aim of The Discovery Project is to help disadvantaged people have the confidence to make the most of their future. The Santander Foundation provides grants to support knowledge, skills and innovation to give disadvantaged people the confidence to discover and create a new world of opportunities.
Who Can Apply – UK Registered Charities, Community Interest Companies and Credit Unions to fund small, local projects helping disadvantaged people.
How Much Can Be Applied For – Discovery Grants of up to £5,000.
We are also pleased to announce that we can offer schools the option to finance their new play area – which means that you can have your new playground installed straight away, so that your pupils can get the maximum use of the play equipment whilst the school pays for it over a set amount of time.
We have partnered with Tower Leasing to offer schools the option of financing their new play equipment via an Operating Lease agreement. This agreement has been passed by the Board of Education, and is fully compliant with the current regulations for the education sector.
As each project is bespoke, these Lease agreements are uniquely tailored to each customer to suit your needs and requirements, in order to make sure that you get the best deal possible.
