Ysgol Frongoch had invested significant time and effort over several years raising funds to upgrade their playground. The existing timber adventure trail had reached the end of its life and no longer reflected the ambitions the school had for active, engaging outdoor play.

PlayQuest was appointed to remove the old equipment, refresh the space and deliver a brand-new adventure play area that would inspire pupils for years to come. The result is a vibrant, durable and low-maintenance play environment that the school community is incredibly proud of.

The Challenge

The original timber trail was tired and worn, with surfacing that required improvement. The school needed a solution that would:

We carefully removed and disposed of the existing timber adventure trail, preparing the area for a complete refresh.

All equipment was manufactured from recycled plastic, offering a robust, weather-resistant and low-maintenance alternative to traditional timber.
To enhance safety and aesthetics, we installed PlayBond Bonded Rubber Mulch over the existing wetpour surfacing. This created a seamless, impact-absorbing surface with a natural look and excellent drainage.

The entire project was completed in just 4 days, including working through challenging weather conditions to keep the programme on track.

The outcome

The transformation was immediate. The refreshed play area now provides dynamic climbing, balancing and strength-based activities that encourage active play at break and lunchtime.
